THE ROLE
As a member of the Wella R&D organization, the Principal Toxicologist provides expert support during all stages of a product’s life cycle, with a focus on new hair care & styling product development. This role is a part of the global Product Safety team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represent the Product Safety department in business initiatives and technical projects as an integral member of multifunctional teams.
- Prepare safety assessments for cosmetic ingredients and finished hair care & styling products for pre-market and market release.
- Generate and evaluate toxicity data with emphasis on (Q)SAR analyses, read-across approaches, and in vitro assays, including study monitoring.
- Identify potential safety concerns with chemical substances, analyze relevant habits & practices data, create market safety profiles, and manage safety-related external relation issues.
- Handle in-market safety questions and issues in collaboration with colleagues in Product Safety, Regulatory Affairs, R&D, QA, Legal, and Marketing departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- MSc in Life Sciences
- Experience in performing safety assessments in cosmetics, chemicals and/or pharmaceuticals
- Structured, self-responsible and solution-oriented way of working
- High customer and service orientation
- Distinctive "Business Sense", agility and healthy pragmatism ("hands-on mentality")
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Fluency in English, both oral and written
Desirable:
- PhD in toxicology, biochemistry, chemistry or closely related disciplines
- Work experience in cosmetics, chemicals and/or pharma industry
- Experience with in silico methods and non-animal safety approaches
