Internship / Working Student R&D (gn) - Computational Chemistry

THE ROLE
As part of our Wella R&D organization in Darmstadt, Germany, you will support the global Wella business by performing computational chemistry in combination with practical experiments in an analytical lab. Wella is committed to revolutionizing the way of working by adopting and pursuing the latest modelling and AI techniques.
This is a temporary role for 6 -12 months and is also suitable for a Master thesis project. We can offer either a full-time internship position (37.5 hours/week) or a part-time working student role (20 hours/week).
The successful candidate should have a strong passion to turn measurement data into insights using AI tools and working in an innovative environment as a part of a multifunctional team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Develop predictive modelling approaches to optimize chemical processes
- Apply computational chemistry methods to analyse chemical reactions
- Validate your findings via lab experiments, e.g. by using chromatographic methods such as HPLC
- Document and report the results with high accuracy and share findings with the R&D teams
- Perform and report your findings accurately and precisely
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in computational chemistry or similar field and strong affinity to data analysis
- Ideally knowledge in analytical chemistry and hands on lab work
- Ideally first experiences with programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis
- Strong analytical thinking and structured working style
- Collaboration skills, demonstrating proactivity, agility, and initiative. Ability to communicate effectively with partners in the team.
- Good English and/or German language skills
- valid university enrollment as a student for the entire duration of the employment is mandatory
