Position Summary:
Internal Audit is modernizing how we assess risk and test controls — moving from manual, sample-based testing toward data-driven, full-population analysis and predictive risk scoring. We're looking for a college intern who's curious about applying data analytics, data science, and emerging AI tools to real business problems inside a corporate risk and controls environment.
This isn't a "shadow the auditors" internship. You'll work directly with transactional data pulled from our enterprise systems (SAP and others), build analyses that materially shape which areas get audited and how, and help prototype AI/automation approaches that the audit team is actively piloting.
What We're Looking For
Someone genuinely curious about *why* the data looks the way it does — not just someone who can run a script. Internal audit work rewards skepticism, attention to detail, and the ability to explain a technical finding in plain language to someone who's never heard of a pivot table.
Key Responsibilities:
- Extract, clean, and analyze large transactional datasets (e.g., sales, procurement, GL, and change-log data) to identify anomalies, trends, and control exceptions
- Build dashboards and visualizations (Excel, Power BI, Python, or similar) that help auditors quickly spot outliers across full populations rather than small samples
- Support the design and testing of predictive/risk-scoring models that help prioritize which processes, sites, or transactions warrant deeper audit attention
- Assist in developing and testing AI-assisted audit workflows — for example, using large language models or retrieval-based tools to synthesize risk signals from multiple data sources into draft audit plans
- Help document data sources, logic, and assumptions behind analyses so they hold up as audit evidence (accuracy, completeness, and traceability matter here — not just a clean-looking chart)
- Partner with auditors to translate business questions ("are we seeing unusual credit block override patterns?") into structured data queries and defensible findings
- Present findings to the audit team in a clear, non-technical way
Qualifications:
-
**Required**
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, MIS, or a related field
- Comfortable working with data in Excel at an intermediate-to-advanced level (pivot tables, lookups, basic modeling)
- Some exposure to a query or scripting language (SQL, Python, or R) through coursework or projects
Preferred (not required — we'll teach the rest)
- Coursework or project experience in data science, machine learning, or predictive analytics
- Familiarity with SAP, ERP systems, or enterprise data structures
- Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools
- Interest in accounting, audit, risk management, or corporate governance
- Familiarity with AI/LLM tools and how they're applied to structured business data
We disclose the compensation range for positions in compliance with local law. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, skills and in comparison to internal incumbents currently in similar role pay Range: $20-25 per hour
