THE ROLE
As a Product Developer for External Innovation, you will be at the forefront of collating qualifying, and integrating cutting-edge innovations to maintain the competitive edge of Wella's iconic care and styling brands. You will become the R&D system expert, responsible for the transfer and uploading of technical documentation to ensure technical readiness and supporting product development groups for ongoing TPM projects. This role is based in Morris Plains, NJ, with the opportunity to work a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite per week), reporting to the Manager R&D, External Innovation (North America Hair Care & Styling)
Your responsibilities will include:
- TPM initiative tracking & sampling
- Collate and meticulously track innovation samples received from across the TPM network.
- Collate feedback and analyze test data from the evaluation process, defining and implementing a clear process for sharing key learnings with PD teams.
- Develop and execute comprehensive product evaluation plans to rigorously qualify product performance and build a robust innovation pipeline.
- Technical Readiness & Documentation:
- Support essential materials coding, accurate formula loading, product registration and notifications, thorough freedom to operate (FTO) clearance processes, and ensure comprehensive product compliance.
- Drive and own the development and meticulous maintenance of NA TPM Technical Readiness documentation, including raw material (RM) coding, formula construction (FC) creation, and stability data etc
- Support formula building and other technical readiness activities, ensuring a seamless and efficient transition of critical information from TPM partners to Wella and ultimately to the PD team.
- Support the ongoing maintenance and compliance of active care and styling products within our portfolio that are manufactured within the TPM network.
- SAP R&D systems expert for Prestige Hair Care & Styling Team
- Become the Prestige hair care & styling Wella R&D system expert and super user, providing critical support and training to PD teams.
- Provide feedback on how to improve process and systems for agility and efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS & DRIVERS
- Minimum Bachelor Degree in biology/biotech, chemistry, cosmetic or natural sciences.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in personal care product development, ideally in Hair Care & Styling or Skin.
- Experience developing & delivering innovation initiative.
- Ability to translate customer needs into technical deliverables & new product ideas.
- Strong communication skills and capable of working with multifunctional groups to move project forward.
- A passion for Beauty. In touch with trends & technology in the beauty industry.
- Communication and presentation skills for verbal and written communication (in English) of ideas, technical rationales, risks, issues and recommendations.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Open to travel regionally when needed (expected ~5-10%)
We disclose the compensation range for positions in compliance with local law. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Wella Company's total rewards package for employees. Pay Range: $70,000-$80,000 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonus plan or variable pay, depending on the role.
