THE ROLE
Responsible for leading packaging innovation and development across RH, this position would oversee the development of all packaging projects from concept to production. With a sharp and modern design eye, this role will elevate the RH aesthetic and lead all related retouching and customer initiative presentations. A committed guardian to the set brand guidelines, this role will build and implement an aligned-on brand packaging strategy and continue to hone and perfect how the brand is presented to the consumer. Responsible to create new product concepts and mood boards that would set the direction of any/all current and new packaging, ensuring the landed development is both on time and on budget. Responsible for leading, directing and inspiring a group of packaging talent that ranges from designers, to retouchers, to production artists. With a deep technical expertise in packaging, this role will also serve as the point person for corporate pack initiatives such as creation and maintenance of a standards library, and approval of all quality and color targets, to insure premium aesthetic and highest level of quality across the organization. Experience in tooling unique shapes and complex printing processes is critical, as well as being fluent in the latest in sustainability technologies and materials.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conceptualize, design and implement packaging that reflects the brand’s unique positioning
- Establish synergies across global brands in packaging excellence, creatively and logistically.
- Establish and maintain a packaging library to be a source of best-in-class materials/technical info, etc.
- Ability to develop new breakthrough packaging concepts that are end consumer focused and ESG compliant
- Deep technical expertise in tooling unique shapes and complex printing processes
- Lead, and manage a team of diverse and talented packaging and production resources
- Drive innovation through packaging – push the teams to new limits
- Manage all retouching required for each RH product launch
- Responsible for the end-to-end development of all package design with focus on RH.
- Accountable to achieve all quality/printing expectations, must push innovations and be a proactive partner with PD
- Lead a highly complex category with multiple timelines, deliverables and production considerations
- Manage the timely execution of all product development and approvals (comps etc.)
- Work adaptively to support each new brand, team, and business needs as they arise
- Able to lead our ESG initiative and must be fluent in sustainable packaging
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- Extensive knowledge of the hair category/retail environment with a deep expertise in packaging development
- Modern and elevated aesthetic with a sharp eye for detail
- 15+ years of related experience, leading and managing packaging + retouching teams
- Must have a deep knowledge of complex printing processes, file building/execution, and production requirements
- Experience working within global brand and/or agency settings, preferably both
- Expert leadership skills and capability to set goals, manage team and ensure key business goals are met
- Entrepreneurial and proactive mindset with the ability to be agile, adapting to fast changing business needs
- Able to navigate a complex global organization
- Knowledge of beauty industry/competitive packaging, as well as other relevant categories.
- Strong presentation skills, able to present, articulate, and advocate for creative concepts to leadership
- Manage creative timelines and budget to deliver projects on time and within cost
- Collaborative – able to partner cross functionally and within the creative department
- Expert knowledge of Adobe Suite (Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign)
- Bachelor’s degree in an Art and Design field
- Ability to travel domestically or internationally as needed
We disclose the compensation range for positions in compliance with local law. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, skills and in comparison to internal incumbents currently in similar roles. Pay Range: $128,000 - $170,000 salary per year. The range listed is just one component of Wella Company's total rewards package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonus plan or variable pay, depending on the role. In addition, Wella Company provides a rich variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
