THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Technical Accounting & External Reporting Senior Manager to join our global finance team. In this new role, reporting to the External Reporting Director, you will be working closely with the Controlling and Finance teams. Your mission will be to manage all technical accounting matters under US GAAP as well as ensure compliance of the quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements with US GAAP and group policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the External Reporting Director in the group external reporting process;
- Be the primary point of contact for US GAAP accounting and reporting technical aspects;
- Assess, conclude on and document accounting treatment for transactions as well as contracts review and assessment;
- Be the accounting subject matter expert for complex accounting topics;
- Work directly with the external group auditors on accounting positions, financial statements and external filings;
- Establish, develop and document the company’s global accounting policies;
- Advise, guide and monitor peers as it relates to compliant accounting practices;
- Ensure effective internal controls are in place and appropriate documentation is maintained for the area of responsibility;
- Lead or participate in certain accounting-related or key strategic projects (e.g. implementation of new accounting standards, business and M&A projects, system/process changes)
- Create presentations and present to senior management
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting; master’s degree preferred;
- U.S. Certified Public Accountant qualification (or equivalent) required;
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a big-four audit firm, dealing with SEC registrants
- Mix of public accounting and public company experience, e.g. combination of public accounting experience followed by a technical accounting role, at group level, in a US-listed environment;
- Advanced technical knowledge about US GAAP, financial statements preparation and SEC filing requirements;
- Experience working directly with external auditors to resolve complex accounting and reporting issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to autonomously research and document complex accounting transactions;
- Ability to engage with various parts of the business as well as key stakeholders do assess and document a situation and its impact on financial reporting
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, accuracy:
- Ability to prioritize and organize, ensuring all tasks are completed in a time efficient manner.
- Ability to work across cultures at different levels of organization as well as with different functions;
- Experience with SEC filing software or selected tools used to automate the filing process.
- High level of reliability and personal integrity.
Desirable:
- Exposure to retail or FMCG industries
- Conversant with multi-country and multi-currency operations;
- Knowledge of derivative instrument guidance, including hedge accounting
- Exposure to consolidation and reporting systems, e.g. Oracle EPM
We disclose the compensation range for positions in compliance with local law. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Wella Company's total rewards package for employees. Pay Range: $140K-$175K salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonus plan or variable pay, depending on the role.
