THE ROLE
The position is for a Manager in Regulatory Affairs with responsibility for brands in the North America region, supporting retail, professional and consumer businesses of the Company, including internal and external R&D developments. This is a newly created contributor role that will see you bringing your scientific, compliance, business, and agility minded points of view to execute against business goals. You will have group level influence and be generally recognized as an expert resource within the department. Reporting to the Director, Product Safety & Regulatory Affairs / Science Policy & Government Affairs for North America, you will be responsible for supporting registration/regulatory needs of the region, to maintain and further develop the North American regulatory capability, to support innovation projects in collaboration with the global Regulatory team, and to address business issues as to meet business goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- North America Regulatory compliance including assessments of products, ingredients, labels, claims, novel technologies and product ideas and related compliance options.
- Regulatory project manager, supporting global Initiative Master Plan projects by identifying regulatory-relevant global data inputs, obtaining these data, and ensuring they are effectively presented to provide clear and concise technical guidance for key project decisions, as applicable.
- Oversight of product regulatory registration/notifications in NA as per global registration/notification system.
- Streamline and optimize regulatory related processes and workflows.
- US/Canada Regulatory monitoring as to anticipate upcoming regulations; Contribute to the global impact assessment of potential legislative changes and definition of compliance plans.
- Represent North America Regulatory Affairs in cross-functional meetings, proactively resolving issues to ensure compliance and accelerate decision-making.
- Develop and deliver impactful regulatory communications and presentations (including PowerPoint decks) that drive stakeholder alignment and support strategic initiatives.
- Representation of company interests in selected trade association teams and tasks.
- Regulatory leadership and interface with relevant regulatory authorities and support to local organizations/Distributors in case of issues, audits quality incidents, market recalls, competition, or legal challenges.
- Coach junior and/or temporary team members, as applicable
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5+ years of professional experience as Regulatory Affairs in US-FDA regulated product categories. International experience and global knowledge of cosmetic legislation/registration frameworks is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or equivalent). Master’s degree in science, regulatory, and/or business discipline. Regulatory Affairs Certified is a plus.
- Proven record of successful regulatory achievements.
- Professional experience in handling technical regulatory subjects and experience in interfacing with regulators and other stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset, with the ability to integrate complex data into decisions and actionable plans aligned with business objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex cross-functional environments and resolve stakeholder issues effectively.
- Skilled in developing clear, impactful regulatory communications and presentations that translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights for diverse audiences e.g., non-expert audience and senior leaders.
- Skilled in applying project management methodologies to regulatory processes, including risk assessment, timeline management, and stakeholder communication.
- Skilled in coordinating complex regulatory initiatives under tight timelines, leveraging prioritization strategies and cross-disciplinary collaboration to deliver compliant, high-quality outcomes.
- Demonstrates integrity and accountability in all regulatory activities, ensuring ethical compliance and transparency.
- Experienced in facilitating meetings with remote, multicultural teams, fostering collaboration and understanding in culturally diverse environments to support compliance and organizational goals.
We disclose the compensation range for positions in compliance with local law. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, skills and in comparison to internal incumbents currently in similar roles. Pay Range: $110,000-$135,000 salary per year. The range listed is just one component of Wella Company's total rewards package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonus plan or variable pay, depending on the role.
