THE ROLE

This R&D (Senior) Product Developer position will be within the Innovation Creation team. In this role you will be closely working with all R&D functions to develop technical understanding and solutions to support the fueling of new ingredients and product innovations into our professional and retail hair care and styling brands.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

ACCOUNTABILITY ASPECTS

• You will own critical tasks and processes in context of new ingredient screening and early product development.
• You scout new ingredients and work on new innovative product forms targeting different hair benefit spaces.
• You develop learning plans to prove ingredients and product efficacy in the lab, the salon and with consumers.
• You translate new innovations into science stories and benefit demonstration and visualization.

PROBLEM SOLVING ASPECTS

• You use data and generate insights that contribute to the development of winning propositions.
• You deliver reliable, accurate and reproducible data in an actionable and timely manner.
• You apply technical rigor, master new processes and contribute to stronger innovation creation capability.

KNOW-HOW ASPECTS                                          

• You independently lead parts of bigger technical projects and/or lead smaller technical projects.
• You apply technical mastery to the ideation, development, evaluation and qualification of product innovation. 
• You communicate results and conclusions in a way that aims the working team decision making.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree from university in chemistry, chem-eng., cosmetic sciences, etc. or related fields
• Relevant experience within FMCG or beauty industry in designing and qualifying new technologies
• Business fluent English
• Curiosity and empathy to transfer trends and consumer insights into new product ideas
• Desire to penetrate science deeply and create science stories for new innovations and/or ingredients
• Team player, “can do” attitude, creative thinking
• A bias towards beauty and in touch with beauty trends
• Communication and presentation skills for verbal and written communication of ideas, technical rationales, risks, issues and recommendations
• Capable and willing to work in a fast-paced environment
